ARTrageous! Thursday, Oct. 27: Beyond Onstage series

October 27, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

- $5 – $15

INTERACTIVE ART & MUSIC EXPERIENCEartrageous-logo-on-black

ORANGE CITY — ArtRageous began in the 80s as a children’s theatre company in Vancouver.

But a few years later, on Christmas Day, their theatre building, props and puppets burned to the ground.

Instead of giving up, these 12 artists started a traveling troupe, The Pink Flamingos — named after the flame-colored bird that stands solidly on one leg, rising from the ashes. Today they call themselves ArtRageous, and present a show that features their many passions: art, music, theatre, puppetry, singing, dancing, comedy.

artrageous-146The show is on one stage— with artists creating huge paintings before your eyes, combined with vocals, choreography, music and special effects. The show pays tribute to a variety of art forms, icons and genres; listen for Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix and more.

It’s interactive. It’s energetic. It’s a visual and musical extravaganza.

The Orange City show is Thursday, October 27 at 7:00pm at the Northwestern College Chapel. Watch for a special ArtRageous guest appearance by Orange City’s mayor, Deb De Haan. AND another ArtRageous guest appearance by NWC’s VP for academic affairs, Mark Husbands. Yes, onstage!

Come early. Interactive arts activities begin in the lobby, prior to the show.

NEWS! Two artworks created during the ArtRageous performance October 27 will be auctioned that evening at the Northwestern College Chapel.

img_9925-artrageous-workshopThe troupe of 12 artists will create seven works of art during the show — each six feet by six feet. A silent auction will be held during and after the show, with the highest bidders choosing the artworks that they want to take home. Minimum bid will be $100. Bring your credit card!  (photo here is at NWC– almost ready for the show. NWC students & some ArtRageous cast members)

The troupe has performed all over the world — from India to Thailand to Tanzania, from Paris to Austria to the East and West Coasts of the U.S. They’ve performed for Sir Richard Branson, Steve Forbes and General Colin Powell.

Harrison Ford: “You’re the best!”

Sir Richard Branson: “World class entertainment!”

CBS: “Go see this show!”

ESPN: “Absolutely awesome!”

ArtRageous will also do assemblies and workshops for elementary through college age students. The workshop on Wed., Oct. 26 is 5:40-6:25pm at Northwestern’s Chapel — on the business of art. Three break-out sessions Wednesday include Branding & marketing; Entertainment: business, logistics & management; and Creative: costuming, choreography & performance. It’s free. Just show up!  (Photo of NWC students & some ArtRageous cast above)
