Quotable Quote:

“It is difficult to get the news from poems yet men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there.”

-William Carlos Williams

Chris White

Chris White is an English teacher, so he believes in the power of stories. Hearing someone else’s story is a way to bring understanding between cultures and connect to one’s own, he said, and that can happen through writing, visual arts, theatre, music and film. A Webster City native, he graduated from Northwestern College in 2009, taught for a few years at South O’Brien and now teaches at Sioux Center High. He spends the school year immersed in student writing, and in the summer he plays disc golf and soccer, reads, writes, hikes and gardens at his home in Orange City. Chris and his wife Morgan have a young son, Ezra. Both Chris and Morgan want to learn more about the role of arts in social justice, here and around the world. What inspires Chris? “The joy and conviction with which my dog chases after a squirrel!”
