HANDBELL CHOIR FROM TOKYO TO PERFORM IN NORTHWESTERN CHRIST CHAPEL

 

ORANGE CITY – The Glee Handbell Choir from Tokyo, one of Japan’s leading handbell choirs, will perform in Orange City Tuesday, July 26.

 

The performance has been moved from DeWitt Theatre to a larger facility, the Northwestern College Christ Chapel, and will begin at 7:30 p.m.

 

The ensemble will perform classical and Christian pieces, and more – including a Beatles medley. Mr. Takanobu Onoda and Mr. Kazuyoshi Inagaki are directors. Accompanist is Rev. Norimichi Odate.

 

Leading Handbell Choir from Japan to Perform: The 17-member Glee Handbell Choir from Tokyo will perform in at the Northwestern College Christ Chapel Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. The free performance is sponsored by the Orange City Arts Council and Northwestern College Intercultural Affairs.

A handbell workshop will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, also at Christ Chapel. Other local performance sites include Carmel Reformed Church, the Sioux Center mall, and Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community.

Summer Suites 2011

Summer Suites – music, art and sweets in two backyard gardens & an art gallery  – will be held Monday, July 25 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Orange City.  Featured in the “progressive concert” will be the Not-Yet-Famous Bassoon Band and vocalist Rob Meerdink singing pop classics – in the gardens of Sue & Gregg Korver and Laura & Gary Malenke. In the Korver Visual Arts Center at Northwestern College, Joel Westerholm will play finger-style jazz guitar while patrons enjoy a juried art exhibit featuring 13 area artists, “Flora of our Place: Interpretations.” Artists exhibiting works are Joanne Alberda, Glenda Drennen, Sheila McAlpine, Barbara McGee, Veronica Postma, Rola Sowienski, Judy Thompson, Lisa Thvedt, Margo Vanderhill, Rein Vanderhill, Jean Weiner, Sharla Wohlert, and Josh Wynia.

Tickets must be purchased in advance from Dove Christian Book Store, Orange City Arts Council or the Orange City town hall. Prior to July 21, tickets are $7.50 for adults, $5 for K-college students and $22 for families. After July 21, tickets are $10, $7 and $30. More info?
