THE UNITY CHRISTIAN KNIGHT CENTER will transform into a center for summer celebration on July 15 with a magic show, carnival and community meal. (The event has been moved INSIDE!)
Audience members of all ages will be captivated by illusionist Eric Michaels’ show-stopping magic skills as he takes the stage for a free performance on July 15 from 7 to 8 p.m.
“We have one fast-paced illusion after another, and there’s a lot of audience participation,” Michaels says. “It’s a lot of fun. I’ll have my beautiful assistant along and we’ll cut her in half!”
Specializing in family-friendly entertainment for fairs and festivals, Michaels, who’s based in eastern Iowa, has traveled across the country and has performed for thousands all over Iowa.
His one-of-a-kind class act is packed with puzzling tricks and lots of laughs.
The show is made possible by sponsor Revival Animal Health of Orange City, in conjunction with Orange City Arts. The event is part of the Onstage Orange City summer series.
Before the magic show, families are encouraged to attend a children’s carnival boasting an array of games, activities, and attractions.
Sponsored by the Orange City Public Library, the carnival will celebrate the library’s summer reading program, as well as its 100-year anniversary. The carnival begins at 5 p.m., and will feature a duck pond, bounce house and airbrush tattoos.
“We’re celebrating our centennial!” says Amanda Vazquez, coordinator of programming and technical services at Orange City Public Library. “We ramped up our summer reading program in general, and we thought that one way we could celebrate summer reading would be to have a carnival on a Wednesday night. There’s going to be something for everybody!”
Attendees can earn tickets through the reading program, or purchase budget-friendly tickets at the event.
Community members are also invited to enjoy the Orange City community appreciation meal from 5 to 7pm, hosted by the City of Orange City.
Unity Christian Knight Center is the event’s rain location. For more information or weather-related announcements, contact ocArts@orangecityiowa.com or 707-4885 or visit orangecityarts.net or facebook.com/ocArts.
