Masters of Comedy: Chaplin, Keaton, and Laurel & Hardy with the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra
Wear your best flapper look and join a 1920’s Halloween party! We’re screening “spooky” films by some of the greatest silent film stars of the age — Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, and of course, Charlie Chaplin.
But what would a silent film screening be without the live orchestra providing the soundtrack and the special effects?
Enter the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra!
Hailed as the premier American ragtime ensemble, Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra will bring tears of laughter to your eyes as you laugh out loud to the Masters of Silent Comedy: Charlie Chaplin in The Adventurer (1917), Buster Keaton in The Haunted House (1921) and Laurel & Hardy in Habeas Corpus (1928), all accompanied live with their original historic orchestral scores. Between the films, Director Andrew Greene and Peacherine play the rollicking rhythms of the early 20th century, featuring favorites by Scott Joplin, Irving Berlin, and the creators of America’s first popular music: Ragtime, of course!
Hop aboard a musical time machine and experience the movies like you’ve never seen them before! And join us early that evening, because you won’t want to miss the fun “Gatsby” style crafts we’ll be creating together before the show gets underway. It’s the party of the (last!) century and you’re invited!
