Henry is an older gentleman who visited our office one morning this past June. Although his wife of 52 years passed some time ago after a long illness, his face still lights up when he talks about her, and he shared stories of their lives together for nearly an hour with me.

Well, Henry said something else that morning that I think you’ll understand. He told me he comes to as many of our events as he can and always looks for a friend to invite along, usually an older lady whose husband has also passed. “Because it’s not easy, you know. It’s not good for us to be alone every night.”

“It’s not good for us to be alone.” I just couldn’t stop thinking about that phrase. And I felt so grateful to the generous folks who give to create a space to gather with others, share experiences, and be connected with a community—so that Henry and so many others just like him don’t have to be alone.

That’s why I am asking you to consider giving a gift to Orange City Arts this year. Because ticket sales cover only 25% of the costs for producing each of the 20 events in our year, and we truly depend on our donor partners to make it all happen. A gift of only $120, or $10 a month, clears the way for Henry and his friend to share a night of joy with all of us. Or, think about making an even bigger impact with a gift of $360 (only $30 a month!), and invite them out for the entire season.

I’m thanking you in advance for your support. With you on our side, we can create even more opportunities to come together to share something meaningful.

With sincerest gratitude,

Lindsay Bauer, Executive Director
