ORANGE CITY – Windmill Park is the place. June 5 is the date. The Orange City Area Community Band will bring its first show of the season to Orange City at 7 PM on the first Wednesday in June.
It promises to be a fun-filled evening of music, as part of the Onstage Orange City series sponsored by the Orange City Arts Council. The free shows are each Wednesday evening in Orange City’s Windmill Park.
The performance will include a pair of marches, Trombone King by Karl King and Colonel Bogey March by Kenneth Alford – and ragtime favorites, Alexander’s Ragtime Band by Irving Berlin and Blue Goose Rag by Timothy Broege. Armed Forces Salute, a medley of the theme songs for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, will also be featured.
These varied, high-energy tunes, performed by exceptional musicians from the region, promise an evening of great music for all ages. Carla Van Beek is director of the band, returning for her 16th year.
This free concert is sponsored by Iowa State Bank, who will be giving out a few small gifts at the performance.
Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Concessions will be available. Rain location is the Orange City town hall.
