OrangeRind Film Festival Finale! Screening of documentary films

ORANGERIND_2011_4ORANGE  CITY – One film tells of falling in love with the land in Iowa. Another focuses on a couple’s call and journey to the Middle East. A third shows the Heemstra “hecklers” at Northwestern soccer games.

Don’t miss the screening of the OrangeRind documentary workshop final films!

Fifteen students of all ages have been learning the art of filmmaking from Mark Volkers, an award-winning Dordt College filmmaker. Filmmaking is best learned by doing, said Volkers, and that is exactly what each student has done since early September.

Join the workshop students on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 pm at the Vogel Community Room at Northwestern College’s DeWitt Learning Commons, to view each four to eight-minute documentary film. “Best of Show” and “Honorable Mention” awards will be given, along with cash prizes.

Refreshments will be served.

Workshop participants include Denise Krebs, Wendi Jo Vande Voort, Shane Madsen, Stanton Madsen, Vern Eekhoff, Tina Snieder, Matt Latchaw, Becky Uittenbogaard, Brittany Caffey, Sarah Simmons, Hana Spangler, Jerry Mennenga, Miranda Liebsack, Daniel Liebsack, and Richard Nyunt. The students range from high schoolers and college students to adults, from several area towns, including Orange City, Sioux Center, Sheldon, Sioux City, Worthington, Hull, and Paullina.

The evening promises an eclectic viewing experience, with short films about creating community, bullying, karaoke, genetic engineering, Pumpkinland, and “behind the scenes” at high school and college theatre… plus more.

OrangeRind was made possible by the generous sponsorship of OC Basketball Productions, LLC, the primary production company of the film Winning Favor, in conjunction with the Orange City Arts Council, Sioux Center Rec & Arts Council, and Northwestern College.

Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of the OrangeRind workshop participants by attending the film screening on November 7th. There is no admission charge.
