Lindsay Bauer-Executive Director
In March of 2017, Lindsay Bauer stepped in as Orange City Arts Council director after the departure of the indomitable Janine Calsbeek.
Lindsay has Midwest roots but is relatively new to Sioux County. She and her husband Cody are 2008 alums of Northwestern College, and during their stay here cultivated a deep appreciation for this unique community. Even from afar they kept abreast of the doings Orange City Arts and maintained deep friendships with Orange City residents. “We kept coming here on vacation!” she laughs. “It just seemed like it would be cheaper to move in.”
An actress and theatre educator, Lindsay also performs with Swander Woman Productions touring plays that speak directly to her Midwestern community to address issues that are unique to agricultural and rural living. And in the Fall of 2016 she opened OCStages: Orange City Youth Theatre, teaching acting and performing skills to students in grades 1-8.
When she does find the time to stop moving and relax, Lindsay loves reading, watching movies, gardening, and cooking, usually in the company of her husband and young son, William.
The language of humans is story, Lindsay believes. “The arts, each and every one of them, are simply different ways of telling stories. And the best way to build connections among individuals, communities, or even within ourselves, is to share our stories.”
